"| didn't even do anything." He says as he starts descending the stairs and | notice he's dressed in sportswear

"Mum would lose her mind if you were to do that."
"Well, she'd have to choose betweensettling here and going to college this academic year or going back
hand taking a gap year."

He scoffs and says; "| already started my college application."
"What?" | ask, aghast. "When? | mean... | thought you said you were torn between medicine and engineering.
When did you finally decide and which did you choose? Which school are you applying for?"
"You're just throwing all these questions atwithout givinga chance to answer. That's a bit unfair." His
nonchalant attitude will be the end of me.
"Ryan, this impromptu decision of yours is going to give our parents a heart attack!" I'm already having a mini
one right now.
"Eighteen years withand they
still haven't gotten used to my ways. It's on them. if they have a heart attack once | break the news. | have to go
now. Don't want to be late on my first day." With that, he takes long strides towards the door.
"And why aren't you answering mom's calls? She's pissed!"
"Oh please! Mum's just being the queen that she is. We spoke this morning!" He calls out and before |
know it, he's out of the house.

| calmly rub my chest and take in a deep breath to steady my heartbeats.
"Brat!" | mumble under my breath and head to the staircase.
The moment | step into my bedroom, memories of the conversation | had with Alpha
Reagan in the car on our way here replays fresh in my mind and I sigh heavily. An unwelcsense of guilt
washes overas | plop on my bed and bury my head in my hands.
This back and forth with Alpha Reagan is drainingphysically, emotionally and psychologically and | wish it
